The blog is live!

I’m so excited to finally welcome you to Harz Unfiltered – your personal English travel guide for the Harz Mountains.

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re planning a trip to the Harz, are curious about what this region has to offer, or maybe you’ve already visited and want to discover even more. Either way: you’re in the right place.

This blog was born from the simple idea to make the Harz more accessible and enjoyable for visitors who don’t speak German.
While the region is full of charm, nature, and history, most travel content is still in German only. And that’s a real barrier if you want to explore on your own.

That’s where Harz Unfiltered comes in.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Inspiration for your trip: from must-see towns and hikes to off-the-beaten-path spots

  • Practical travel tips: how to get here, where to stay, and what to pack

  • Local food & culture: including vegetarian options and dog-friendly places

  • First-hand recommendations: including whether English is spoken at a location

Everything you’ll find here is written in English, with international visitors in mind and always from a local’s perspective.

You can also follow along on Instagram @harz.unfiltered for daily updates, behind-the-scenes stories, and short videos from around the region.

Thanks for being here. I hope this blog inspires you to explore the Harz in your own way.
Feel free to reach out, leave a comment, or drop me a message.

See you on the trails
